Um hello, because the economy is tight is why people can't afford insurance.

Agree completely

I agree completely with you. We pay tons of money into insurance so this doesn't happen to us. It is hard for me to give to someone else who hasn't been. I am sorry that this happened...but that is why you play the insurance game. I didn't hear about any benefit for the Main Street Cafe? They did have insurance though. I am sorry for your lose Deb...but you played the no insurance game and sometimes it pays off and sometimes we loose.

I am sorry for her loss but with the economy the way it is maybe that is why she couldn't afford insurance It was a chance she took The lightning was TERRIBLE that morning. I would rather give to her and know she would use it to rebuild and get insurance than to give it to a family that had a benefit auction earlier this year and they go on a VACATION than to their house that burnt as well!!!!!that I don't believe is right!!

I agree

cannot afford to help someone who is unable to help themselves, yes it's beyond there control with a natural disaster BUT it was in there control to have in place insurance for the event of a disaster, not even going into the legal factors about selling alcohol and serving food without insurance pretty gutsy

Really good pictures Kiel. Those flames are insane!

whatever why?

As a resident of Scotland County I would think you would want to help someone in need no matter the circumstances. As a former resident of Memphis and who still has most of my family there, I would want all the help I could get. IF YOU CAN'T RELY ON FRIENDS AND FAMILY THAN WHO DO YOU RELY ON. PUT YOURSELF IN THIS WOMAN'S SHOES FOR ONE MINUTE AND THINK HOW YOU WOULD REACT TO THIS SITUATION. I HOPE SHE GETS ALL THE HELP SHE NEEDS AND GOOD LUCK TO HER.

why?

I am all for helping area people when something beyond there control happens, but why would you own a business and not have insurance? I have donated to many benefits, fundraisers, and school functions but I do not believe in helping people that dont help themselves. In this economic time money is tight and this is not a worthy charity.
