KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Supporters of the Kirksville basketball coach who didn’t have his contract renewed are asking the school board to reconsider its decision.

Since this is a personnel issue, the school board hasn’t explained why Chuck Arnold will be let go.

But supporters created a petition highlighting Arnold’s winning record and respect among students.

They gathered at Brashear Park on Monday evening to gather signatures.

“By signing this petition and attending the school board meeting tomorrow night, we have an opportunity to let the board know what we feel about losing a good teacher, a good coach, and a good person,” Supporter Matt Wilson said.

Supporters plan to bring their petition to the school board meeting Tuesday night.

Coach Arnold’s friends say he would consider staying at Kirksville Schools if certain changes were made.

What A Joke !!!

Posted by Guess Who... I'm Back..., Kirksville - Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 2:46 p.m.

I once had an issue with Randy Mikel when he was Assistant Principal, and we had talked with an attorney and we had a very legitimate reason for a lawsuit against Randy Mikel and the School District, but we were told by several teachers if we went forward with this that we could count on our business being destroyed, we would have to take our children out of this school and move away because they will bring you down. So I'm sorry to say - we just walked away. Lots of people in this town cannot figure out how Randy Mikel actually got his Principal job, sure wasn't being professional, guess it's just who you know. I'm really sorry to acknowledge my children went to the Kirksville Schools. What a joke!!!! Chuck you would be very much well off moving on from Kirksville, I can guarantee if they are forced to reverse their decision - you will be forced out another way. I'm really glad we as a group are standing together for this man, he deserves the best. Chuck, Hold your head high, you did such a great job, It's their loss, and your gain in the long run.

Good Luck

I wish you well at the meetig. While you are there why don't you request the firing of both the school super and AD for lieing to the school board and to the general public concerning not just coach arnold but all the other issues that have occured recently within our school system and for covering up other displine issue's that have not been released. Please fact finder set you camera's in front of the adminastration and see if they lie when asked the questions face to face. If you don't know the questions to ask just ask around and you will find someone who knows the questions to ask.
