A local woman is facing a sex related felony charge following her indictment by an Adair County grand jury.
25-year old Melissa Songer, of Kirksville, has been indicted on a charge of first degree statutory rape. She is accused of having intercourse with a boy under the age of 14. The indictment alleges the incident, involving a boy age 13, occurred in September of last year. Songer is schedule to be arraigned in Adair County Circuit Court Tuesday. She is being held in the Adair County Jail under 50-thousand dollars cash only bond. If convicted Songer could be sentenced from five years to life in prison.
