UNIONVILLE, MO -- Putnam County Senior Kasey Knight has a 4.1 GPA and a variety of talents.
“I’m in golf, Science Olympiad, band, jazz band, and campus bowl,” said Knight.
His busy schedule doesn't stop him from taking on a full load of AP and college courses.
“He likes things that challenge him intellectually; he's not one that'll take the class for the easy grade. He's always taking challenging classes,” said Andrew Garber, AP Biology Teacher.
And while he's participated in everything from basketball to National Honor Society, he does have a favorite activity.
“Definitely band. I'm a band geek. Band trips are always fun, and I love playing the saxophone,” said Knight.
When he's not jamming on his saxophone, he's playing piano or pit percussion in the school's drum line.
“My grandpa is an auctioneer and he bought a piano for me. I taught myself. I knew notes, knew how to read music, so just sat down and started learning,” Knight said.
But he's not just musically inclined; he's also gifted when it comes to math and science.
Knight plans to go to either Southwest Baptist University or Rolla and major in Engineering Physics and get a minor in Music.
