ALBIA, IOWA -- Hard work and prayer are all it takes for the Scholar of the Week, Alisha Caudill, to land at the top of her class.
The Albia Community High School Student currently has a 3.8 grade point average.
"She’s determined to do her best. She has great community skills, always asks questions if she doesn't understand something," said English Teacher Tracey Matt.
It doesn't take much to inspire her to do well in school.
"I think it's more of a self motivation, my parents they never had to push me to do good, I just did," Caudill said.
Caudill's choir director sings her praises.
"She's a good role model, often knows her part in choir before everyone else and is very patient with people who don't know their part yet,” said Rachel Walker-Corpus.
"I love singing, I’m obviously in concert choir, this is my third year and it's an honor choir type thing, you have to audition to get in, so it's kind of an honor," Caudill said.
This week's scholar is also a leader in the church community.
"My church, I love volunteering for church activities, skits and I teach children's church and I will be teaching Sunday School," Caudill said.
Her faith has guided Caudill to her future career.
"I plan on attending Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny this fall, and I want to major in Youth Ministry and minor in Missions," Caudill said.
