EDINA, MO. -- This week's scholar, Brett Bryant is described as a phenomenal student and a great leader. Teachers say he's fun to have in class and they will miss him.
He’s so busy he barely has time to think!
"FBLA, NHS, Smokebusters, basketball, baseball, Spanish club. I’m involved in almost everything we've got,” says Brett.
Brett is on track to enter college with 21 credits under his belt. He says he will probably major in business administration at a four year college.
"Math has always been kinda my thing and as far as leading and stuff, I've always kinda liked doing that stuff."
Coach Jesse Crawford says with Brett, it's like talking to another adult.
"He's kind of an extension of the coaching staff. If he sees something on the floor he'll let us know at halftime or in between quarters. He's really intelligent, he's really funny to be around, he's got a sense of humor," says Crawford.
Teachers say he's an asset in the classroom and he will be truly missed.
"He works really hard. He does just what he needs to do and he works really well with the other kids. They look to him for guidance sometimes,” says Brett’s math teacher Melissa Laberton.
Brett finds a way to stay on schedule despite his loaded agenda.
"He has to do all those extra duties and keep up with his school work and he does a good job at all of it," says Laberton.
"Last week he had a paper due on a Wednesday and some of his teammates were making fun of him because on Saturday afternoon he was going to take it upon himself to get the assignment done," says Crawford.
"High school's pretty easy. College you gotta kinda take care of yourself a little more," says Brett.
Both Melissa and Jesse say he will be successful at whatever he does.
