GREEN CITY, MO. -- Two purebred puppies from the Heartland are going to be making their new home in The Netherlands soon.

Dog breeders Gertruud and John Koot live outside Amsterdam, and they came to Green City, Missouri to pick up their Pembroke Welsh Corgis from the Carol and Les Williams farm.

The two couples took the dogs to the vet's office in Kirksville Friday to be implanted with microchips.

The Koots bought a pup from the Williams last year and had it shipped to The Netherlands.      They liked it so much they decided to travel to the United States themselves and get two more.

"We had said the next time we get one, we're coming to America to pick it up," said John Koot.

"I've never been to America before. It's the first time." Reporter: "What do you think about it?" "It's different, completely different than our country. There is much space, and it's good-looking here. I like it here," said Gertruud Koot.

The Koots told KTVO they're impressed by how nice people here are. They even made their first trip ever to Wal-mart Friday. Amsterdam doesn’t have any Wal-mart stores.

They'll be spending the weekend in Green City before heading home with their new dogs early next week.
