COLUMBIA, MO. (AP) -- Governor Matt Blunt is asking a judge to dismiss a lawsuit over access to governor's office e-mail records.

And if the case proceeds, the governor is seeking to have the process sped up so that the suit is decided by the time he leaves office in January. Attorneys for Blunt and state information officer Dan Ross have filed motions trying to dismiss the lawsuit over e-mails.

The suit was filed by a former Democratic lieutenant governor and a prominent Republican attorney, who were selected to represent the state. Three media outlets have also joined the suit to pursue independent requests for documents.

Attorneys for Blunt and Ross argue that the lawsuit doesn't make clear, specific allegations and doesn't back up its assertions.
