KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Kelly's Furniture in Kirksville began installing solar panels to produce electricity.

The solar panels were installed on the roof, generating electricity from the sun--reducing the energy load and selling energy back into the electrical grid.

Scott Williams, the Project Manager of Missouri Solar Applications said there will be thirteen rows of solar panels, making it a total of 109 panels

"The panels will absorb the sunlight and create electricity for Kelly's Furniture. So each cell, there's 60 cells in each module, make up an array that will produce 25 Kilowatt for Kelly's Furniture.

The president of Kelly's Furniture tells us they have more than three hundred light fixtures inside the store, and all will be changed to energy-efficient bulbs.

With this change, Kelly's will be reducing their electricity load by 70-percent.

At first workers thought the project would be completed in a few weeks, but now they estimate early to mid January.
