OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The new Kohl's opening in Ottumwa won't just bring new shopping to the area, it will bring jobs -- over 100 of them.

The department store is looking for around 125 part-time employees for various retail jobs. Anyone with retail or customer service experience is encouraged to first apply online at kohlscareers.com.

After completely filling out the application, applicants will be prompted with an interview time and date. They will then go to the Iowa WORKS Center at the Indian Hills North Campus for an in-person interview. The interview process is unique in that it won't be one-on-one, but conducted in a group setting.

"You have to be pretty, I would hope, bubbly and really stand out from a crowd and really sell yourself because you're in a setting where 11 other people [are] competing for that position," said Linda Rouse, Operations Director at Iowa WORKS Southern Iowa. "You want to be a good sales person. And I think that's probably why they do it and they probably have an opportunity to get up and do a sales speech, maybe a little 30-second elevator speech. So I would be prepared for a panel interview."

Interested applicants can also call or stop by the Iowa WORKS Center for help and interview preparation. The group interviews will be held from 10:45-6:30 on Saturday, August 4, 10:45-7:30 on August 5, 11:45-7:30 on August 6 and 8:45-4:30 on August 7 and 8.

You can also come by Iowa WORKS for an interview at any of those times, but an interview is not guaranteed without first applying online.
