FAIRFIELD, IOWA -- Fairfield will get a visit from a best-selling author to discuss the future of energy initiatives and the potential of sustainability on a city-wide scale.
On Tuesday, January 8, Peter Fusaro will stop in Fairfield after visiting Dubuque, Iowa to discuss the future of sustainability and the possibilities of energy conservation and renewable energy.
Fusaro has written 16 books and has been a leader in energy and environmental development for almost 40 years. Partnering with Fairfield, whose Sustainable Living Center is one of few net-zero buildings in the world, can open the doors to several opportunities.
"There's always more that we can do and I think that from the policy side, the city is always willing to look into what is the next step that we can do, but we do have a community that pretty much buys into this on their own and they are taking this practice into their own businesses and their business life cycle," said Mayor Ed Malloy. "So I'm not sure that we need to do too much, but we will definitely benefit from what Mr. Fusaro has to offer."
Mayor Malloy said Fairfield's message in the visit is that the city has focused on creating a culture of sustainability through all the effort and volunteering of residents and businesses.
Mr. Fusaro will be speaking at 3 p.m. at Cambridge Investment Research and again at 7:30 p.m. at the Sustainable Living Center on the Maharishi University campus. The lectures are free for everyone to attend.
