KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- It's amazing how fun learning becomes when you turn it into a carnival-like event.
That's exactly what the Adair County Ambulance District does with its annual Kids' Day, which is coming up Saturday, May 19, in Kirksville.
There will be all kinds of fun stuff going on.
"We have bounce houses and slides, and there's a clown here, and the fire department is represented, the law enforcement agencies,” said Troy Mihalevich with ACAD. “The search dogs are here, a lot of different activities for the kids to do. There's a train that runs around the site."
This will be the 13th year for the event, and it has grown bigger each year.
Mihalevich says the first year, they only had 20 people show up.
Last year, around 550 kids and parents turned out for Kids' Day.
"It's just really a fun day for the kids to come out and their parents to come out, and just again, to see the services that their tax dollars support and the services that we can provide, and just for us to interact with the community and them to get to know us a little better," said Mihalevich.
Kids' Day runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 19, 2012, at the Adair County Ambulance District headquarters on Potter Avenue in Kirksville.
