PUTNAM COUNTY, MO. -- The Putnam County R-1 School District recently recognized Camile Banez as the Career and Technical Education Student of the Month for February.  The acknowledgement included the presentation of a certificate, denoting her honor as one of the top high school vocational students, as chosen by the vocational faculty at Putnam County R-1 High School.  Camile will also be honored at a local Rotary meeting.

Camile, is the daughter of Cynthia and Raul Banez of Unionville, MO, and is a Senior at Putnam County R-1 High school.  Camile is active in many organizations at Putnam County including: FBLA (where she serves and chapter Treasurer), FCCLA (where she serves as chapter VP), DECA, Interact, Student Council , Art Club, National Honors Society, Student Council and SADD.  Camile is also an accomplished athlete. She participates in Varsity Basketball, Varsity Softball, and Varsity Cheer.

Kathy Rhodes, Business and Marketing Instructor at Putnam County R-1 High School also nominated Christian for CTE student of the month.  “Camile is an absolute joy to have in class. She always actively participates and encourages others to do the same. Camile is also a vital part of the officer teams for both FBLA and DECA.  She always comes to meetings with ideas – and is always willing to go the extra mile to help make projects happen.”

The Putnam County School District feels that these monthly rewards reinforce the importance of Career and Technical Education in our schools.  Learning a skilled trade for craft enables many capable students to enter the workforce and establish successful careers.  Vocational instruction also helps the college bound student succeed in various avenues of study.

All monthly winners are considered for the Career and Technical Education Student of the Year Award, which will be announced at the Putnam County R-1 Awards Ceremony in May.
