Arthur Lorence - Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home

Arthur Lorence, 79, of Unionville, MO passed away suddenly on October 11, 2012 at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital.
 
Arthur Lorence was born on June 10, 1933 in rural west Putnam County, the son of Koa Lee and Mary Ellen (Young) Lorence.  On October 5, 1957 Arthur married Martha Maurine (Montgomery) in Unionville, Missouri and three children were born to this union.
 
Arthur served his country during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 34 and the Grant Street Church of Christ.  Arthur retired enjoying crossword puzzles and reading western and Civil War history books after thirty plus years of maintanence work for MoDot.  He faithfully played cards on Thursday afternoons with his friends in Pollock, Missouri.  Arthur was an avid “armchair” sports fan in addition to supporting the local High School Baseball Teams.  When it came to the sport of motocross, Arthur became his son Kirk’s unofficial mechanic, sponsor, and biggest fan.  Arthur loved his family dearly and was a continuous support to the activities his grandchildren were involved in.

Arthur Lorence is survived by his wife, Maurine Lorence of the home and two sons; Rick Lorence of Unionville, MO and Kirk Lorence and wife LeAnn of Green City, MO.  Arthur’s surviving grandchildren are Justin, Derek, Lacey Athon and husband Brandon, and Jazmine.  His surviving great grandchildren are Charolette Lorence and Lexey Miller.  He is also survived by a sister, Edith Ann Noble of Seymour, IA.
 
In addition to his parents, mother and father in law, Arthur was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lisa Gay Lorence.
 
Funeral services for Arthur were held on Monday, October 15, 2012 begining 11:00am at the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO.  Doug Williams conducted the service and a eulogy was shared by Derek Lorence.  Arthur’s casket bearers were Justin Lorence, Derek Lorence, Brandon Athon, Rick Lorence, Kirk Lorence, and Brad Ayers.  His honorary casket bearers were the Pollock card players and Johnny Dixon.
 
Memorials for Arthur are suggested to the Unionville Cemetery and may be entrusted to the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO  63565.
