KIRKSVILLE, MO. --

When snow falls it is important to make sure you and your family are safe and have everything that you need in the house.

It is important to have a week's worth of food and safety supplies.

If you live far from other people, you should have even more.

You should have drinking water, canned food, bread, crackers, and dried fruits.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends having a first aid kit and other medicines you may need.

And if you have pets, don not forget to get food for Fido and Fifi.

And, it is always good to have a flashlight and extra batteries.

Do not forget safety outside the house.

Clear your walkways and use ice melt.
