OUTSIDE NOVINGER, MO. -- Halloween was a scary for a northeast Missouri truck driver.

Just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Ira Helton, 48, of Green City wrecked a tractor-trailer on Highway 6 about three miles west of Novinger.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Helton veered off the road.

His tractor-trailer came to rest on the passenger side in a ditch right along the highway.

The truck was reportedly carrying liquid laundry detergent.

Helton was taken from the scene by ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
