KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- UPDATED Feb. 17  10:38 a.m.

Release from A.T. Still University:

The ATSU Board of Trustees has approved moving forward with expanding its dental program to Kirksville. The school would be only the second program in the state and will implement a new model of dental education.

Details were released at a morning news conference in Mehegan Classroom on ATSU's main campus in Kirksville.

Further details as we receive them.

Original story:

Kirksville is still waiting to hear if it will be home to a new dental school proposed by A.T. Still University.

The answer could come as soon at this Thursday, February 17.

ATSU has scheduled a news conference for 10 a.m. Thursday in the Mehegan Classroom on the ATSU campus.

A spokesman told KTVO Tuesday that ATSU President Dr. Jack Magruder will make an announcement about an important update on the proposed dental school.

We are told certain state lawmakers have been invited to the event.

Kirksville is competing against Orlando and San Diego to land the school.

The three cities made their pitch to the ATSU Board of Trustees this past weekend.

As soon as we learn something on Thursday morning, we'll post it on this website and have reports on KTVO News at 5, 6 and 10 on Thursday.
