KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Kirksville residents came out to downtown in green on this chilly Sunday to celebrate at the 29th Annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration.

It all started with the Baby Show from 0-24 months and the Little Miss and Mister Leprechaun Contest for boys and girls ages 2-7 at 9 inside the Dukum Inn as parents dressed up their kids in cute costumes to be judged for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Places in each age category.

People also came out with their pets for the pet costume contest. It was the first year for the event to benefit The Field of Dreams.

"They are all dressed up and walking in the parade. It's a community effort to support NACD and St. Patrick's Day," said Katy Fine-Newman, President of Field of Dreams.

Then in front of the Dukum Inn, the cannon exploded as it was time the 5K Fun Race and the 1.5 Mile Fun Walk. About 200 participants took part in the event.

"It's kind of a tradition. There's a lot of fun and food. You get to be with other people. It's fun," said The Barteau Family who walked in the 1.5 Mile Fun Walk.

Afterwards, the streets of Downtown Kirksville were lined up with families as they gather to watch the parade. The parade had many floats and people walking it in, including some of the KTVO News team as they passed out candy to the kids.

"Everyone is Irish for a day. It's a lot of fun. Everyone gets to come out to this family event out here," said Chip The Clown.

In the end,  it was a ton of family fun and entertainment.
