OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Representatives from both of Ottumwa's Kiwanis groups presented a check for $3,000 to the Ottumwa Public Library Wednesday morning.

The money was raised through Kiwanis' annual barbeque fundraiser held during the summer.

The fundraiser has been going on for around ten years and has so far raised $35,000 to support children's programs at the library.

"They use all the proceeds to benefit different areas in the children's library, or... parts of the daycare at the high school and those parents," said Teresa Sammons, President of the Morning Kiwanis Club.

Library Director Sonja Ferrell said she and the rest of the library staff are grateful to Kiwanis for the generous donations that allow important programs to continue.
