OTTUMWA, IOWA -- One local charity celebrated a grand re-opening Friday.

The Salvation Army Thrift Store on West Main Street in Ottumwa opened its doors once again.

The store had been closed for several weeks, while the new store manager, Jenny Sanford, reorganized and re-priced the inventory.

Salvation Army Captain Tabitha Knuth says that the store serves a dual purpose for the community.

"All of the funds generated in the store actually go right back into the community to support the rent assistance program, senior feeding, meals on wheels and many other programs that we do down at the Salvation Army," said Knuth.

The thrift store is open Monday through Saturday; and if you aren't looking to buy, Knuth says that maybe you can help out by donating items. She says that baby and children's clothing are always a hot item with patrons.
