KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Pre-schoolers learn that humans aren't the only ones who have homes.

At Monday morning's Knee High Naturalists learning session at the Missouri Department of Conservation Office in Kirksville, pre-schoolers got to sit and listen to the story "Over In The Meadow" which is about different animals like turtles, birds, frogs, bees, and spiders plus the different types of habitat in which they live.

The kids even went outside to explore.

"I think it was good for them to go outside than just seeing pictures in a book or seeing a prop, to go out there and see an actual habitat and say 'Oh, I might find an animal in this spot.' They even saw an old bird's nest from last year. To see real habitats and that there really was an animal there," said Amanda Moore of the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Despite it being a little chilly, the kids had a blast.

The next session for the group will be in two weeks when the kids will learn more about eggs.
