OTTUMWA -- Trucks from the Ottumwa Fire Department were seen responding to a reported blaze at the Cargill plant on Ottumwa southside Saturday afternoon.

KTVO received a tip that flames could be seen at the plant around 2 p.m.

A KTVO reporter on the scene saw trucks entering the plant, but by 3 p.m. there was no visible evidence of the fire from public areas near the plant.

Cargill employees on the scene had no comment about the situation.

Overtime fire fighters were called in to assist with the fire. The fire took place in an area where no people or livestock were, therefore, the damage was minimum. The blaze was taken care of quickly and efficiently. We spoke with Ottumwa Fire Chief Tony Miller who assured us the fire was not as bad as it could have been. There were no injuries, it's expected employees will be able to go back to work almost immediately.
