KIRKSVILLE, MO -- On this Saturday,  the El Kadir Shrine Club in Kirksville went to the sewing ladies.

The North Central Missouri Chapter for Project Linus held it's 14th annual "Make A Blanket Day" Saturday afternoon.

About 75 people came out with their sewing kits and machines to help make new handmade blankets and quilts which will help bring comfort and security to ill, traumatized, or needy children up to 18 years old in the area.

Members say this is the biggest turnout for the event they have ever seen.

"I am so excited that this many people showed up and have huge hearts. They care about the children, their neighbors, and what's going on around them. They really want to help kids who are hurting and in need. They are all coming together today," said Connie Douvier with the North Central Missouri Chapter for Project Linus

More than 300 hundred blankets were either donated or made at the event.
