KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Black bears are very popular in Missouri, and some kids learned that they don't need to be saying "Oh My" when they see one.
At Monday morning's Knee High Naturalists learning session at the Missouri Department of Conservation Office in Kirksville, pre-schoolers got to learn more about these big mammals-- from their living habitats to their behavior and interaction with humans.
But the biggest lesson they learned was that bears and humans do have their differences but also some similarities.
"They learned about the bear's diet and that bears will pretty much eat anything. Some kids came in thinking bears are just mean, but I think they learned bears are more curious and mind their own business," said Amanda Moore of the Missouri Department of Conservation.
The kids also got hands on while learning about the bear's skull, teeth, and paws.
