OTTUMWA, IOWA -- The Elks Lodge in Ottumwa Saturday went to the dogs, we all least for a few hours.

The Hogs 4 Dogs organization and several volunteers held a clinic for pet owners to bring in their furry friends.

Dogs from all over Ottumwa were able to get shots and of course treats for a small fee. Owners were also able to get their pet micro-chipped.

Organizers told KTVO that they are so thankful for the people that gave up their time and talents to make this event happen.

“Everyone has come on their own as a volunteer to help up provide this service. You know, you always learn by just jumping in; so we will learn as much as we can by doing this for dogs, and maybe in the future we will be able to do one for cats. Also, if this is a real good turnout, hopefully we can make it an annual event,” said Tammie Hartley with Hogs 4 Dogs.

Hartley added that they were hoping to host 100 dogs Saturday, however they could have seen much more as the line was outside the door.
