How healthy is your county?

PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY -- The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has released its annual county health rankings for every state in the country. This year's ranking revealed some interesting trends. Child poverty rates have not improved since 2000, with more than one in five children living in poverty. Violent crime has decreased by almost 50 percent over the past two decades.
     
In Missouri, the healthiest county is Saint Charles. Here in the Heartland the healthiest county is Macon, which ranked 23rd, followed closely by Putnam, ranked 25th.

In Iowa, the healthiest county is Johnson. Here in the heartland, the healthiest county is Mahaska ranking 50th, followed by Jefferson County ranked 73rd.
