EDDYVILLE, IOWA (AP) -- A south-central Iowa school district has warned parents about a man who tried to entice students into going with him to see some puppies.

District administrators sent a letter to parents about Tuesday's incident at Eddyville Elementary School. The letter says a man in a white minivan with a gold stripe called out to four boys while they were in the school yard on recess.

Authorities say he didn't get out of the van and the boys never left school property.

Mahaska and Wapello County sheriff's offices are investigating.
