KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- It was an emotional Kirksville City Council meeting Monday evening.

Firefighters from all over Missouri attended the meeting to voice their concerns about a contract they say city council proposed that would strip them away of their benefits.

The International Association of Firefighters Local 2952 and their families addressed the council urging them to extend the negotiation process so they can further discuss a labor agreement.

“We're not asking for more pay we're asking for fair and equal treatment.... Extending our current contract,” said Jeremy Davis, Union President of Local 2952.
After the council heard the outcry of firefighters and their families they decided to extend the current contract local 29-52 has been under since 2009-- to discuss and come to an agreement with one another.

City council agenda is available here.
