OTTUMWA, IOWA -- Indian Hills Community College will be celebrating diversity at its ninth annual Diversity Conference coming up in a few weeks.

This year's conference features paraolympian and Fairfield native Matt Stutzman as the keynote speaker. The conference highlights the importance of diversity in our community; and recognizes that diversity comes in many different forms.

"To me, diversity is not only the color of your skin, there's more into it," said Freddy Miranda, Indian Hills Director of International Affairs. "It is diversity in thoughts, diversity in appreciation, like music, diversity in religion, that is what it's all about. Diversity is pretty much all around us and that is what we're trying to bring here."

The conference will also feature three separate sessions in which a variety of speakers and presenters will be available.

"There is really something for everyone," said Ashley Albertson, of the International Affairs Office. "Something to listen to that will interest everyone."

The conference will be Friday, March 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is free for all students - not just students at Indian Hills - as long as they have their student ID.

Miranda said they have well over 100 people already registered for the event, but there are still tickets available. There will be a limited amount of walk-in registration available on March 22, but it is highly recommended to make a reservation online prior to the conference.

You can reserve your place by clicking here. The conference is $40 per person and includes a lunch.
