KIRKSVILLE, MO -- There was a lot of excitement at the Adair County YMCA this weekend.

They kicked off their Saturday Youth Basketball Program. There were nearly 200 kids enrolled all running the court shooting, passing and dribbling the ball.

The gym was packed with excited parents and fans.

YMCA Program Director Brittni Kastelic tells us the kids are always excited.

"I think the kids have a blast," Kastelic said. "I think they enjoy playing basketball and meeting new friends and just getting the experience really. We have 18 teams and bout 152 players in the leagues. Its kindergarten though fourth grade so that's the only requirement you have to be within those grades, but anybody can play."

Kastelic tells us the kids practice once a week and the program goes for six weeks.

At the end of the program Kastelic tells us everyone wins.
