Police looking for runaway inmate

MACON, MO. -- Saturday evening, Macon County authorities did apprehend 25-year-old Vincente Soto.

Soto was wanted for failing to return to the Macon County Sheriff's Office Friday, after being released to go to a doctor's appointment.

Authorities tell us Soto's mother called at 5:15 Friday evening, and said she had "lost" her son.

Macon County Sheriff's said they received a tip Saturday afternoon of a subject walking along the railroad tracks near Elmer, Missouri, just north of Macon.

Deputies responded to the area and Soto was apprehended.

Soto was arrested late last month after he allegedly stole a limousine from a Kirksville business and led authorities on a high-speed chase through three counties.

Law enforcement officers are asking for your help to locate an inmate who never returned from a doctor's appointment Friday.

The Macon County Sheriff's office says a judge ordered that Vicente Soto, 25, of Kirksville be released at noon to go to see a doctor in Kirksville.

The suspect was picked up at the jail by his mother and was supposed to be back by five this afternoon.   

The sheriff's office said Soto's mother called at 5:15 p.m. and said she had "lost" her son.

Soto was arrested late last month after he allegedly stole a stretch limousine from a Kirksville business and led authorities on a high-speed chase through three counties.

The sheriff’s office also said Soto had told another inmate at the jail that he was going to steal another car.
