KIRKSVILLE. MO -- Some Heartland folks got some great deals on books this Saturday afternoon.

Friends of the Library and the Adair County Public Library held their first book sale of 2013.

There was a good crowd at noon when the sale started.

People bought donated and recycled books and novels in areas such as children's literature, mysteries, romance and science fiction.

Organizers say what drives people to buy many books are the prices at 25-cents for paperbacks and 50-cents for hardcover books.

"They are excellent books that you would pay like $14 on a paperback or $16-$25 for a hardcover. It's a very good buy, and we sell lots of books," said Janet Dillawon of Friends of the Library.

All of the money raised from the book sale will go directly back to the library for anything they need.

The library holds a book sale on the first Saturday of every month.
