SCHUYLER COUNTY, MO. -- Even though the election for the prosecutor job in Schuyler County was held back in November, county residents had to wait until today to find out who will actually hold the position.

Current prosecutor Scott Summers had filed suit against County Clerk Bree Shaw, and Attorney Lindsay Gravett, who won November's election.

Summers had cited a state statute which he claimed showed he should remain in the office until the next regular election for that position, which would be 2014.

However, the defendant’s attorney cited a statute of his own which backed their decision to place the position on the ballot.  Putnam County Judge Jack Peace ruled Friday in favor of the defendants in the case, in effect, allowing Gravett to take office at the first of the year.

She will serve out the remainder of the current term, which means Schuyler County voters will once again see the prosecutor's position on the ballot in 2014.
