KIRKSVILLE, MO -- With October and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month drawing to a close, Northeast Regional Medical Center wants to keep reminding women the importance of early detection.

Healthy Woman of Northeast Regional Medical Center and the George Rae Cancer Center is hosting a dinner and presentation this Tuesday, October 30 from 6-8 p.m.

A guest speaker from Missouri Cancer Associates will stress the importance of getting a yearly regular mammogram.

"The number of mammogram are pretty healthy during the month of October. But we do them all year round. Think about your health. Catching breast cancer early is so much more curable than wait and have it go out of hand," said Laura Gruber, Healthy Woman Coordinator.

After the presentation, tours of the mammography department and dinner will be available.

The event is free and open to the public.
