Pedestrian hit by car, driver mistakes gas pedal for brakes

KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI -- One Kirksville woman was sent to the hospital Saturday after being involved in an accident near the Kirksville Square.

The accident took place around 8:30 Saturday morning near the intersection of Washington and Marion Streets.

According to the Kirksville Police Department, one woman was driving her car and accidently pressed the gas pedal instead of the brakes and ran into a building, pinning a pedestrian who was walking near the building.

The woman was transported by ambulance to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

Her condition is unknown as of Saturday evening.
