KIRKSVILLE, MO -- If you have never had the chance to travel around the entire state of Missouri, one art exhibit will help you feel as you have.

From now through November 11, the Kirksville Arts Association will have the "Painting Missouri" display at the Kirksville Arts Center.

"Painting Missouri" depicts the seven year journey of St. Louis artist Billy O'Donnell's travels through all 114 counties in the show-me-state.

During that time, he faced almost every weather element to capture the story for every one of his paintings.

The association says it's an honor to be displaying such beautiful works of art.

"We are thrilled. It is just a wonderful exhibit. We are so excited. It was in St. Louis last then Hannibal and Kansas City before that. We were hoping to move it up to this part of the state. We feel lucky. We would be thrilled to have as many people as possible come to see it and that they will connect with a lot of different areas of the state that they may have traveled or originally come from," said Sharon Pritchard of the Kirksville Arts Association Board.

Once he completed his paintings, O'Donnell teamed up with author Karen Glines to write a book about the paintings.

Both O'Donnell and Glines will be at the Kirksville Arts Center this Thursday from 5:30-7p.m. to talk about the exhibit.
