KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Cadets from Truman State University’s Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) in conjunction with the Missouri National Guard, will host events on campus Sept. 24, 26 and 27 to bring awareness of the opportunities the Army has to offer students. Events include room-clearing demonstrations, inflatable games and the obstacle course, and events are open to all Truman students.

“The Truman ROTC-National Guard Week is going to be an excellent opportunity for students to come out, get some information, have some fun … and see if the [National] Guard or the ROTC program would be a good fit for them,” Second Lieutenant Ryan Newman said.

Cadets will be “guarding the quad” by demonstrating room-clearing, and two inflatable games will be available for students to participate in Sept. 24. An information table will be set up on The Mall Sept. 26. The obstacle course by the rappel tower will be open to students Sept. 27.

The Truman State University Army ROTC program works with students to prepare them to become Second Lieutenants in the United States Army. The program strives to instill a sense of honor, community and duty into the lives of the Cadets, in and out of the classroom.
