Virginia Dale Chace - Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home

Virginia Dale Chace, 87 of Kirksville passed away Saturday (Sept. 8, 2012) at her home in Kirksville.
    
The daughter of John Dale and Carrie L. (Tarr) Davidson, she was born March 6, 1925 in Gibbs, Missouri. In 1942 Virginia was united in marriage to Carl Fortney Jr. On Sept. 27, 1953 in Kirksville Virginia was united in marriage to Charles Chace. Charles and Virginia were sealed for time and eternity in the LDS Temple in Washington D.C. in June of 1976.
    
Virginia is survived by her husband, Charles; one son, C. Dale Fortney of Kirksville; four grandchildren, David C. Fortney, Alycia C. Huff, Rebecca P. LaZella and William D. Byrn; seven great grandchildren; one niece, Verna Bell Wright and one nephew, Mike Hanlen.
    
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, David Fortney; one brother, Olen Davidson; and three sisters, Alyce Hanlen, Mary L. Bimson and Emily Blacksmith.
    
Virginia attended the Kirksville schools. During WW II she worked in a small arms factory in St. Louis. She was a floral designer at several floral shops and worked at several area grocery stores, lastly at HyVee.
    
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint in Kirksville. She enjoyed her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She liked crafts, antiques, genealogy and wrote a family history book. When able she was an avid fisherwoman.
    
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 12, 2012) at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will be in the Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville.
    
Pallbearers will be Stuart Vorkink, Lee Vorkink, Dave Stubbs, Dee Roberts, Mark Fanning and Randy Hamilton.
    
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
