Thomas Latimer, age 76 was born January 22, 1936 in Livonia, Missouri to Chester F. and Mary R (Parrish) Latimer. He passed from this life August 31, 2012.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, one son Robert Thomas, and a foster brother, Leslie G. Butler.
Thomas is survived by three daughters Deborah of Iowa, Denna of Arizona, Mary Denise of Iowa and two sons Leonard of Idaho and Richard of Iowa. Also one sister, Roberta J. Morris and husband Milford of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and two foster sisters, Hazel Goode of Des Moines, Iowa and Lettie Lee of Seattle, Washington. Thomas is also survived by his companion and caregiver, Mary Henderson of the home.
Thomas attended the rural one-room school (Oak Grove), Unionville High School, and graduated from Livonia High School in 1954. He worked at various jobs in Iowa, but settled permanently on the farm where he grew up and was employed as an over-the-road truck driver until retirement.
Thomas was baptized as a young man and attended the Omaha Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and visiting with people. Thomas was well known for the good sorghum molasses he made each fall.
Memorials for Thomas are suggested to the American Cancer Society and may be entrusted to the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
