She was united in marriage to Kenneth Bell on February 11, 1937. He preceded her in death in 1983. Susie was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, George Western in 1983.

During the first few years of their marriage Susie and Kenneth lived in Detroit, Michigan. They moved to Greentop in 1946 and opened Bell's IGA. After retiring she spent her days taking care of her mother and helping her family and friends.
