Lillian Marie (Duncan) Johnson
1937 – 2012

Lillian Marie Johnson, 74, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday (June 15, 2012) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.

The daughter of James and Stella (Cole) Duncan, she was born July 11, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1959, Lillian was united in marriage to Marvin William Johnson Sr. who preceded her in death in 1999.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a great-great granddaughter, Estella Versey at birth and one aunt, Margaret Casey.

Lillian is survived by Carl Farris, her companion of twenty-seven years; three sons, Marvin James Johnson of Mineral Point, MO, Marvin William Johnson Jr. of Kirksville, MO and John Patrick Johnson and wife Corrina of West Lafayette, IN; and two daughters, Marva Marie Clay and husband Mike of Kirksville, MO and Stella Ann Johnson and fiancée Stephen Hornbeck of Sullivan, MO. She is also survived by her very adored seventeen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Lillian received her education in Herculaneum, Missouri. She then was employed several years as Center Coordinator for East Missouri Action Agency in Mineral Point, Missouri until attending nursing school in Farmington, Missouri, where she received her CMT license. Lillian then went to work at Bohr’s Nursing Home in Mineral Point, until 1979. At that time she moved to Kirksville, Missouri, and began working at Twin Pines Adult Care Center, where she was employed at the time of her death.

Lillian had many interests including bowling, Bingo, dancing at Aaron Russell’s Band events, classic art and gospel music. She also enjoyed pampering herself with hair, nails and facial appointments at Pages of Looks. Lillian was a very loving, giving and caring person who loved her family and many friends.

While residing in Mineral Point, Lillian was member of the Lions Club and after moving to Kirksville, was involved with RSVP bowled on many leagues at Leisure World Lanes, receiving the Bowling Hall of Fame Award. She was also a member of Hamilton Street Baptist Church of Kirksville.

Public visitation will be held Tuesday (June 19, 2012) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (June 20, 2012) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Charles Jackson presiding. Music selections will be provided by Jane Jackson who will be accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist.

Pallbearers will be Michael Clay, Lamont Versey, Shawn Watt, Terrell Hill, Jeff Weaver and Doug Athon. Honorary bearers will be Bobby Salsberry, Dwayne Farris, Phil Lockwood and Chris Carr.

Interment will take place Thursday (June 21, 2012) at the Bennett/Bryan Cemetery in Belgrade, Missouri.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Lillian Johnson may be made to the Twin Pines Adult Care Center Residents Fund. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
