KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Improvements are coming to the south end of Kirksville.

The South 63 Corridor Community Improvement District (CID) board met Thursday afternoon in City Hall in Kirksville.

The CID is a sales tax from the revenue from the shopping district on South Business 63 that is used towards public improvements.

A major item on the agenda were the improvements planned for this summer to the shopping district south of La Harpe and Baltimore Streets.

Utility improvements are being made, but soon you will see other improvements, as well.

"In the near future, you'll see some improvements going on. There will be sidewalks on the east and west sides of Baltimore that run from the corner of La Harpe down to the south pass the shopping center," said Kirksville Assistant City Manager Melanie Smith.

The city says it reached an agreement with Missouri Department of Transportation to do the improvements.

The CID funds will be used to help pay for the project.

The board will meet again in June for its audit meeting and the budget meeting will be in October.
