Edith C. Wheeler 99, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at the Kirksville Manor Care Center.
    
The daughter of Joseph Orville and Hilda Geroge (Seirstead) Smock, Edith was born June 13, 1912 in Albert Lea, MN. On December 8, 1933 in Kirksville, MO she was united in marriage to Harold Eugene Wheeler who preceded her in death on August 5, 1977. Also preceding her in death were one brother, Alford Smock and two sisters, Mabel Jones and Ella Dunham.
    
Edith is survived by one brother, Joe Smock and wife, Evelyn of Hot Springs, AK; one sister, Louise Sternfield and husband, Larry of Ormon Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews.
    
Edith moved to Queen City, MO with her parents and attended the Queen City schools  graduating from the Queen City High School. After her marriage they made their home in Rockford, IL. When her husband retired, they moved to south Missouri. In 1978 Edith moved to Kirksville. She enjoyed her family and going to Merle Dunham’s home for special family events.  Edith loved her home, flowers and feeding birds.
    
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 16, 2012, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Virgil K. Jones officiating.  Recorded music will be “The Old Rugged Cross” and “On The Wings of a Dove”. Burial will be in the Crowder Cemetery  south of Downing, MO.
    
Pallbearers will be family.
    
Visitation with the family will be held from noon on Monday until the time of the service, in the chapel of the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
    
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northeast Missouri.
