QUEEN CITY, MO -- A Heartland hospital is helping northeast Missouri students get educated in the health field.

Scotland County Hospital established a Med Club for the school districts of Schuyler, Scotland, Knox and Clark counties.

Tuesday, they held a Med Club Symposium at Schuyler County High School in Queen City. 200 students heard from professionals across the medical field.

The club's goal is to get students interested in health care careers at an early age, to help them set a goal in working in this demanding and growing field.

"What Med Club wants to do is to educate these students. Have them go out and get educated, come back and make the rural areas home," said Med Club Coordinator Kristin Hyde.

Hyde said educated health care career people are in high demand in rural northeast Missouri.

Med Club was made possible by a grant from the Missouri Foundation of Health that was awarded to Scotland County Hospital earlier this year.
