KIRKSVILLE, MO -- One Heartland park is going to be beautified pretty soon.

At Tuesday afternoon's Kirksville Lakes, Parks and Recreation Committee meeting, the committee discussed the master plan for P.C. Mills Park in the southwest part of town.

The plan includes leaving the open grass area open for activities such as soccer and adding some new trees near the pool area.

The committee is looking forward to what the future holds for the P.C. Mills Park and those who use it.

"I'm excited about the master plan. It's an ongoing process, but it's nice to know we looked at it and know we put a good plan in place so we can go forward in making it a reality," said Kirksville Assistant City Manager Melanie Smith.

The Lakes, Parks and Recreation Committee voted to approve the plan.

Now it goes to the Kirksville City Council for final approval.
