For the 2011 model year, the Ford F-150 is getting the most extensive powertrain overhaul in the truck’s history. The 2011 F-150 will be offered with four new truck engines, all coupled to a revised six-speed automatic transmission.

A 3.7-liter V6, a 5.0-liter V8 and a version of the 6.2-liter V8 that is the base engine in the 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty will be available when the 2011 Ford F-150 arrives at dealerships. A 3.5-liter EcoBoost™ engine, specially tuned and calibrated for the F-150, will be available in early 2011.

Each of these four engines offers a combination of attributes that matter to F-150 customers: torque, horsepower, fuel economy, performance, durability, reliability and capability. The 2011 F-150 lineup will deliver best-in-class fuel economy. In fact, when the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine joins the lineup, the 2011 F-150 will have up to 20 percent better fuel economy compared with the outgoing 2010 F-150. – Ford Motor Company August 11, 2010.
