Results of DWI Saturations during the month of May

MACON, MO -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol announces the results of DWI enforcement saturations conducted in the Troop B area during the month of May 2012.

During the month of May 2012, DWI enforcement saturations were conducted on May 5, in Adair, Shelby, and Sullivan counties; and on May 19, in Clark County.  Each of the saturations began at 10 p.m. and concluded at 2 a.m. the next day.  The goals of these traffic enforcement operations were to detect intoxicated drivers, hazardous moving, driving over the speed limit, and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes.  As a result of the operations, officers made 18 arrests and issued 31 warnings.  The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the saturations:

4 -- Arrests for driving while intoxicated
3 -- Citations issued for exceeding the posted speed limit
1 -- Citation issued for careless & imprudent driving
2 -- Citations issued for seat belt violations
1 -- Citation issued for a stop sign violation
1 -- Citation issued for a hazardous moving violation
1 -- Citation issued for a non-moving violation
4 -- Citations issued for license violations
1 -- Citation issued for an insurance violation

"The Missouri State Highway Patrol is very serious about removing impaired drivers from our roadways," stated Captain Wilt.  "If drinking alcohol is a part of your plans, please choose a sober designated driver."
