Charles Eugene Floyd 82 of Brashear passed away Wednesday (January 30, 2013) at his home.
    
The son of Audrey Gideon and Delpha Frances (Acton) Floyd, he was born July 4, 1930 in Kirksville, MO. On August 5, 1950 in Kirksville he was united in marriage to Darlene Berneice Walker and she preceded him in death on September 4, 2011 after 61 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a daughter and son-in-law, Valleri and Larry Norfolk; a grandson, Douglas Wayne Norfolk; two sisters, Joyce Curtis and Patty Niece; and two brothers, Pearl and Leroy Floyd.
    
Charles is survived by his children, Rayna Ihnat and husband George of Brashear, MO, Lisa Wilson and husband John of Des Moines, IA, Eric Floyd and wife Rhonda of Russiaville, IN and Teresa Creason of Kirksville; eleven grandchildren, Stephanie Timmerman, Jonathan Norfolk, Tom Ihnat, James Ihnat, Jennifer Stone, Kelly Leydens, Rachel Lytle, Tad Floyd, Jonathan Floyd, Shelbie and Miranda Creason; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, William “Bill” Floyd of Kirksville and several nieces and nephews.
    
Charles grew up in the Kirksville area where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean conflict. He worked the biggest part of his career as a professional carpenter where he was known as one of the best. He could do it all from rough construction to finish work, which he was most passionate about. He worked on many local construction projects including the college dorms and the hospital. He lived on the home place there in Brashear for over 52 years where he also did some farming.
    
He was a member of the Carpenters Union. He loved gardening, animals, spending time with his family, attending produce auctions and selling it during the summer. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor as well as treating everyone equally. He loved his family, they were his whole life, and he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
    
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (February 3, 2013) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Darrell Draper officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
    
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the
