Reva Beatrice Smith, 94 years old, of Green Castle, Mo. passed away on Jan. 7, 2013 at NRMC Hospital in Kirksville, Mo.

The daughter of Ernest and Mae (Conkin) Owings, she was born June 28, 1918 in Green City, Mo. On July 1, 1935 she married Clarence Ledford in Unionville, Mo. On May 3, 1962 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, she married James Smith of Iowa City, Ia.

Reva is survived by 6 children, Leland and Fran Ledford of Atkinson, Ill., Ronnie and Pasty Ledford of Green Castle, Mo., Phyllis and James Roop of Kirksville, Mo., Owen and Helen Ledford of Novinger, Mo., Orin and Joyce Ledford of Green Castle, Mo., and William Lee and Cindy Smith of Iowa City, Mo., also 15 granchildren, Cindy Nelson and husband Steve of Arizona, Luan King of Atkinson, Ill., Lee Ledford Jr. of Minnesota, Janice McFarland and husband Randy of Green Castle, Mo., Melissa Billington and husband Rick of Kirksville, Mo., Shelia Martin and husband Rusty of Novinger, Mo., Sherry Sizemore and husband G.J. of Novinger, Mo., Mark Ledford and wife Linda of Green Castle, Mo., Angela Ballanger and husband Randy of Green Castle, Mo., Tori Smith and fiance Brian Pinney of Tipton, Ia., B.J. Smith of Iowa City, Ia., Randall Ledford and wife Scarlett of Kirksville, Mo., Kenney Ledford of Kirksville, Mo. and a very special friend and neighbor Sunny Johnson of Green Castle, Mo., 30 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren, and many Nieces and nephews as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, Donna Belle Ledford in 1944, and 1 son, Randy Joe Ledford of Ft. Riley at Junction City, Ks. in 1974, 1 Grandson, Scotty Joe Ledford of Junction City, Ks., her husband James Smith of Iowa City, Ia., 1 brother, Marvin Owings of Kirksville, Mo., 3 sisters, Woneva Sizemore of Green Castle, Mo., Matella Bland of Benton Harber, Michigan, and Nadine Snyder of Princeton, Mo.

She worked at International Shoe Factory in Kirksville, Mo., a poultry processing company in Geneso, Ill., Curt Yokums Steak Restaurant in Coralville, Ia., and volunteered at VA Hospital in Iowa City, Ia. For 5 years lastly was one of founding group that started the Johnson County Congrate Meals for the Elderly and retired from them as the head cook. She won several awards while with them.

She loved being with and cooking for her family, being outdoors, loved her dear friends and neighbors, and playing pitch, and really enjoyed spending hours in her porch swing at her home in Green Castle, Mo.

Visitation will be noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Green City, Mo., with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at the Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Green City, Mo. followed by burial with close family members at the Morelock Cemetery in Morelock Community in Green Castle, Mo.

Pall bearers and honorary bearers will be Steve Ledford, Scott Martin, B.J. Smith, Loren Martin, G.J. Sizemore, Randall Ledford, Nicholas Billington, Rick Billington, Randy McFarland, Earl Bachman, Floyd Owings and Lonnie Johnson.
