Harold Howard Spriggs
1918 – 2013

Harold Howard Spriggs, 94, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday (January 3, 2013) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.

The son of Earl Felix and Leona Cressie (Stinson) Spriggs, he was born January 24, 1918 in Kirksville, Missouri. On January 17, 1938, Harold was united in marriage to Martha “Josephine” Ryals who preceded him in death on October 31, 1997.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Bill and Dennis Spriggs.

Harold is survived by four grandchildren, Jeanette Robins of Saratoga Springs, UT, Chris Henrich of St. George, UT, Denise Neish of Highland, UT and Will Spriggs of Dallas, TX, as well as eighteen great-grandchildren.

Harold resided most of his life in Gifford, LaPlata, Greentop, and the Kirksville communities.  He served in the United State Navy from1943 to 1944. Harold was employed as a prison guard at the Moberly Correctional Center forty years until retiring.

Harold was an amateur boxer, enjoyed training dogs and mules, loved bird and coon hunting and will be remembered by his grandchildren for always having magic tricks with cards and coins.

He served as president and was a twenty-five year member of the Labor Union in Kirksville.

Graveside services were held 4:00 p.m. today, Saturday (January 5, 2012) at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville, under the direction of Travis-Noe Funeral Home of Kirksville.
